Struggling with mental health is no cake walk. No one is immune. Stats say more than 1 Billon people are experiencing a mental health disorder at this very moment. Most are facing it in silence.
I have walked through many dark days. And, through the darkness there is light. I didn’t get through alone.
They say you are the sum of the 5 people you spend the most time with. We all have more influence than we know. If you want to make the world a better place, love one another. It’s contagious.
You never know what someone is going through, what struggle or pain they carry, weighing them down like a backpack of bricks they can’t take off. We can’t control others, but we can control how we respond.
Give grace. Imagine how the world would be if we all assumed the best in each other, instead of accusing the worst.
Every smile, hug, kind text or call, words of encouragement, simple invitations can all cause a beautiful butterfly effect. We may never know the true impact of our interactions, but they’re real.
We are what we consume. Our mindset affects everything we do. How we move through our day and how we treat others. The seeds we plant today will determine what we grow tomorrow. We are in control of who we listen to, watch and surround ourselves with. We are in control of our healing.
A few things that light my path, and just might brighten yours too:
✨Find your people that feel like sunshine. Pay attention to who leaves you better than they found you. Find a community and lean in!
✨Get outside. Fresh air and Vitamin C are good for the soul.
✨Look at who and what is around you and say thank you. Gratitude is medicine.
✨Move your body, give it the fuel it needs. A body in motion stays in motion. You are God’s masterpiece.
✨See a gap, ask how you can help. Gather and experience how planting tiny seeds can change the world.
✨Don’t think church is for you? I dare you to try it! Our North Point experience has been better than I ever thought ‘church’ could be. You can even watch it from the comfort of your living room.
✨Thought about seeing a counselor? Do it! I highly recommend. Asking for help is hard, never healing is harder.
Our struggle can become our superpower.
Just take the next best step. One day at a time. One seed at a time. There is purpose in our pain. God can grow the most beautiful fruits from the darkest parts of our stories. Know that you got through the hurt and you can get through the healing too💛
